What makes Maybank better than CIMB?

It’s a personal experience, opinions may vary.

At 8.22 a.m I made two ATM withdrawal at Bank Muamalat nearby branch. First I made cash withdrawal using Maybank card, the machine showed me error message “switch failure..” something like that. Then I thought perhaps there was a problem with the link to Maybank system, so I made another withdrawal using CIMB (formerly BCB a.k.a Bank Bumiputra), same error message appeared. So it was a bad day, I moved on.

At the office, since it’s already a week in February, I made a regular accounts check using CIMBclicks. There was a deduction from my last account balance. The details showed me it’s from this morning withdrawal. I remember this morning I did not see the coming out of the machine ;)

So I made a call to CIMB call center, a lady picked up the phone and advised me to make a report to the nearest branch. Okay, so I did. Yes, I want to mention that the lady taking the report from me was a little rude, especially when it was already 12.00 p.m and I was there taking her lunch time, but that’s not the point. Oo btw, I don’t like the way she asked me “How much was it?”. Perhaps it was not that much but it’s still my ..know that? And I don’t like when she said, “Ambik pen tuh…”. But nothing’s perfect, we have been living with this kind of services for years so it’s no surprise at all. I was informed that it may take 2 weeks for my account to be credited for this. Okay, 2 weeks.

Coming back to the office, I logged in to Maybank2u. I have prepared to see the same scenario as to what had happened to my CIMB account, but it was not. They had auto reversal in there.

Perhaps Maybank use a super technology to know which transaction was valid or not, while CIMB still with the same “ambik pen tuh, filled up a complaint form and wait for 2 weeks!” ;)

maybank is good
