Technorati tags: it’s a magic or what?

& newbie here.. but I noticed some people are using “tegnorati tags: xxx yyy zzz” in their post and linking back to such as “href=’http://technorati.com/tags/xxx’”. Why people using it while there is category tools available? I know that this post is going to be placed at http://technorati.com/tags/spesel/ because I’m gonna put this post under “spesel” category. There might be a lot more things that I miss, but I dont think putting “tecnorati tags bla bla” has anymore different than putting the post under a category..if the intention is to get listed under that tag at . Furthermore, the linking is not necessarily need to go back to , but it can go anywhere…as long as the tag is the last word in the url. It says;

You do not have to link to Technorati. You can link to any web page that ends in a tag - even your own site! For example, these tag links would also be included:

Wanna make some tests? Post a blog, put it in a category namely as “spesel”. Then check for the update at http://technorati.com/tags/spesel … let see what happen.

    OK, I’m game. I created a category called “spesel”, attached it to my blog entry at:

    http://www.irakr…ips/category/spesel/

    If Technorati sees it, that means that Wordpress automatically notifies Technorati of categories attached to a post. That’s a Good Thing, as Martha might say.
