Streamyx & CAREMO Wireless 4 Ports Router RSW510 (Super G)

Had my Streamyx installed at my home yesterday, and being excited with wireless, I bought a CAREMO Wireless Router just now for RM230. I don’t know is it expensive or not, because what I want is the wireless internet in my house ;) PC Fair is coming to Kuantan Parade on 17th of this month, just few more days.. but I can’t wait to have the wireless router.

I thought to complete the installation and configuration in less than 1 hour, but the things got messed up because I tried to be smart by changing the settings here and there with the BiPAC 5112S ADSL2+ Modem/Router and also the wireless one. BiPAC comes with Streamyx package. Having some experience with NetPassage router and Aztech modem, I thought everything gonna be easy and never care to read the manual.

Well, it should be easy if you know nothing about connecting the modem and wireless router, and going to be a little tougher if you think you are smart ;)

The truth, these is how I have successfully done with them after trying for 3 hours;

1. Reset the modem (you do it by pressing the reset button for 15 seconds while the power is on).

2. Reset the wireless router (do the same as above).

3. Get the phone line into the modem port.

4. Get the RJ45 into modem LAN port and connect it into router WAN port.

5. Get the other RJ45 into 1x port router and connect the other end into your PC/laptop network card.

6. Set the TCP/IP of Local Area Network in your Network Connections to be taking auto and auto DNS.

7. Swith on the modem, wait until the ADSL light blinking on your modem.

8. Switch on the router, wait until you get the assigned by the router. How do you know? Use Start > Run > cmd > type ipconfig , it will show you these:

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

9. Now access your router configuration at http://192.168.1.1

10. It will say You Are Now In > Internet Port, select the PPOE (ADSL Dynamic Configuration)

11. Enter your username@streamyx and the password then save.
12. Click the Network Status, it should say;

Wan Protocol: PPoE

PPoE Connection Status: Link Up

13. You are connected, ok?

I have some difficulties with setting up the Wireless LAN as well from the router, but I will have it noted here in next post.

    I got caremo model AS400 from a friend who cannot remember his setting. I tried resetting the router by resetting. It does not seem to work. Is there other ways of getting the router. Each time I connect it, I will be requested to input user name and pass word.Thank you
