MyBloglog - cool networking tool

I thought anyone who knows PHP can do a tool such as what MyBloglog is doing. Set a database, write some codes and give users a javascript for their sites… and I started dreaming to create my own one.

But in reality it won’t be that easy. Bandwidth is the main thing. I noticed that Eric (the founder) is having 46k of contacts (wow!), meaning that is the number of registered users. Assuming on average each users are sending 100 requests per day vis the javascript, that simply means 4.6 millions request per day. I will sure to burn my server with that amount of hits.

That’s among the reasons when I cancelled my tracking project last year, besides, javascript won’t help much webmasters in term of PR gain or search engine crawlability.

However Eric is providing detailed web statistics collected from the javascript. That’s a premium service and justify the big equipment maintenance that he has to do.

Head to MyBloglog now to know some other interesting things you can do with your sites/blogs.
