Mobile Homeline Internet (CDMA) vs GPRS
->

I’m writing this post from Dungun, Terengganu and my connection is via Huawei C506 CDMA handphone using TM CDMA Network with 1525 dial-up internet access. For those having internet connection difficulties, this equipment might be your best alternative.
Equipment: Huawei C506 CDMA Handphone available at TM Point at RM3xx.
Network: TM CDMA2000 1x. TM call this service as TM Mobile Homeline. To register the line: RM75 deposit, RM25 monthly rental and 1 cent per minute of internet call. Anyway, this network is not only for internet, but normal to fixed line or mobile numbers (013/019/016/012/017/014) also will do. Call charges are the same as normal home line.
Access: 1515 or 1525. If you have 1515 account, don’t worry, you can dial 1525 from CDMA network. The internet access fee will beĀ 1.5 cent/minute for 1515 and 2 cents/minute for 1525.
Personal experience: I have bad experience when dialing the 1515 from CDMA. The line was congested and I can only surf the first page that I saw, the rest, congested. But it was a little surprise when using the 1525 access number, I have 82kbps speed (not bad for a dial-up).
Total cost:
1515 - 2.5 cents/minute (RM0.15/hour)
1525 - 3.0 cents/minute (RM0.18/hour)
What the heck… I will prefer using the 1525 compared to Celcom GPRS (10 cents/10kbps) or 3G.
Benefits:
- easy, internet anywhere & on the go.
- cheapest mobile internet around.
- alternative to mobile handsets (maybe you don’t need them anymore)
PS: So who else willing to bergayut sampai pagi at local call charge (RM0.04/minute)? Get the mobile CDMA set.

r u connected using cable or bluetooth? is everywhere? does it require coverage area? does TM offer unlimited package?
July 24th, 2006 at 11:23 pm
hi,
1. cable
2. anywhere in your zone (for example, 03 zone, 09 zone)
3. yes, some remote area won’t do
4. i don’t think so, it’s per minit base

Cloud Four, sorry tak dapat komen banyak pasal model tu. anyway dari segi CDMA coverage, rasanya dah agak menyeluruh berbanding masa dulu-dulu. sekarang kat setiap bandar utama dah ada CDMA, walaupun tak seluas mobile network celcom atau maxis. just untuk clarifykan, internet connection yg saya maksudkan kat atas menggunakan network CDMA bukanlah highspeed, tetapi dialup sahaja. Highspeed CDMA setahu saya belum dicommercialkan di Malaysia, walaupun saya pernah cuba connection ni dalam tahun 2002 ketika tu dalam peringkat testing (cantik buat video call).

Hi everyone,
saya cam brminat dgn TM Mobile Homeline (CDMA 1525). saya dah tengok brochure berkenaan pakej ni. adakah wajib kita ambik telefon Huawei C506 sekali dgn pakej tu ? bole tak kita register service tu jer dan tak yah amik telepon tu? sebabnya saya punya handphone buleh support CDMA.
November 30th, 2006 at 6:32 pm
Man, kalau dah ada set sendiri rasanya tak perlu beli lagi yang baru. Just bawa set tu untuk diorang configure.

To answer Cloud Four question regards on the Samsung CDMA phone that he brought from South Korea..
I believe that the phone can be used as Korea also using 800MHz ..but I am not really 100% sure on it as I had even read an article on CDMA spectrum over the world. Some countries are different frequency band altho all using 800MHz. In US, even they use 1900MHz and called it PCS as opposed to GSM1800.
Hmm..I guess Mr Clud Four also confuse on the CDMA2000 to our GSM operators’ 3G runned on WCDMA.. Both are not compatible. Both are compete with each others , but voice quality and data speed are both better in CDMA2000.

Hi Mightyhitter,
Baru beli Huawei CDMA C2205 & register dgn TM. Connect to TM CDMA Network? Minat nak pakai system ni utk my new notebook. Tempat kerja takde fixed line. Minta bantuan??
January 22nd, 2007 at 8:56 am
ni mcm henfon ke? coverage dia mcm mana? nak ada base station mcm CDMA biasa? TM pasang merata-rata ke mcm tower mobile phone? what do u mean with 03 zone, 09 zone? and how does it compare to normal mobile phone?
dah tengok kat website TM, tapi tak cerita apa2 pun. cuma cerita rate dia aje. rate menarik, tapi sayang, tak cerita detail.

Kalau saya convert fixed line into this CDMA boleh tak?
January 23rd, 2007 at 6:44 pm
Man, sekarang Huawei ada latest model terbaru C5300 boleh check kat sini:
http://www.huawei….ducts/view.do?id=183
harga in RM kawan saya jual RM499.
HC, a friend of mine is selling Huawei sets in Kuantan. Normally agents are selling these sets, not TM Point itself.
Ismile, set C2205 lebih advance dari C506, should be ok.
Hensem, CDMA coverage in Malaysia is not as good as what GSM has to offer. However, if you are staying about within 15 km around nearest TM exchange, I think it will be ok. CDMA which TM offers in Malaysia is a little unique, you can make calls if you are in your own home zone. What I mean is, if your CDMA phone number is 03-22448899, then you will only be able to make calls when you are in KL/Selangor. Calls can be made to any other numbers (mobile/fixed). However, you can receive calls anywhere, including other zones.
Capkudaterbang, tak boleh convert. Numbering dia lain.

hai..
Actually, I dah try dial up 1525 and 1515 tapi failed to connect to internet.
January 29th, 2007 at 3:33 am
tak perlu register, cuma be sure username/password dialup account tu masih active and also the configuration. mcm model saya pakai, saya kena configkan number dia pada setting dialup number dalam handset tu (store 1525, baru dia tahu mana nak dial).
January 29th, 2007 at 11:31 am
Saya guna Huawei C5300. Tahukah kenapa? Perlukah saya buat setting PC saya?
February 4th, 2007 at 1:22 am

February 6th, 2007 at 2:38 am
Tq Mightyhitter,
Actually I dah setting configuration kat PC with username & password. Username ni yg baru, xpenah guna lagi. So, rasanye xde masalah tentang configuration. Mayb masalah nak connect tu je.
Tentang cadangan mightyhitter tu, macam mana nk setting pada handset tu? tolong tunjukkan ckit.
terima kasih in advance.

February 22nd, 2007 at 7:01 pm
February 24th, 2007 at 3:44 am
nampak sgt aku buta tech..ape itu CDMA? hehe..explain ckit.,.
February 27th, 2007 at 1:39 am

February 28th, 2007 at 12:25 am
Saya masuk internet guna dialup 1315. Tak payah register. tak payah user name. Tak payah password. Cuma kosnya 4 sen seminit. Caj masuk dalam bil biasa.
March 4th, 2007 at 11:51 pm
saya cube gak pakai 1315 tapi tak dpt la…dia mintak password. saya pakai huawei c5300.
March 7th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
March 29th, 2008 at 3:06 am
kalau you ada beli cdma phone from oversea or your phone cdma compatible, boleh register service mobile homeline(TM CDMA). tapi kena configure set sendiri using the phone user guide coz tmpoint only registerkan line shj. melainkan you register line cdma tu using TM point cdma phone which is motorola or alcatel.
kalau nak beli set huawei or ZTE, kena beli dgn agen2 set tersebut. huawei, ten ten telecommunication. http://www.tenten.com.my. ZTE. tetra communications Sdn Bhd.
tapi CDMA service di malaysia tak sebagus negara lain due to MCMC policy in licensing. Thus TM only market the product with restriction from MCMC.(in order to support GSM service provider). sebab tu, coverage tak meluas dan tak sebagus GSM(maxis, celcom, digi).
too bad sebab mobile homeline call rates cheapest is 4 sen seminit/local call. ikut rates talian tetap. tapi sms 5 sen utk celcom/tm saje sebab other telco tak compatible lagi.
probably kalau MCMC benarkan TM utk jual all out, this service will be a competitive product.but currently it is not.
