Version: Beta

Installation: Upload mightysearch.php to wp-content/plugins/ directory and activate it. Go into your account and get the form & search result code. Paste both code into MightySearch.

How to use it: Just create a new page, for example “Google Search”, so that the post slug will be “google-search”, and reachable at URL for example: http://yourdomain.com/google-search/ . Then type either one of the following text anywhere in your page to call the search form or/and search result;

I have written on my page.

now how tonring search result on my page?
where to get the code for search result?

  7. mightyhitter Says:

mukund, the plugin should be placed inside plugins folder and you need to insert <–mightysearch–>

  8. mightyhitter Says:

notice that it should be double dash “–” before and after “mightysearch”.

  9. Dr Gaspar Says:

Thanks for the plugin. One problem though: at the bottom of the result page there is much white space left (see in you own blog). Where does that come from?

  10. mightyhitter Says:

hi, i think the white space is meant for adertising space by google itself. it is left without content because sometime google doesn’t know what the page is all about, thus the ads is not displayed.

  11. Bryan Says:

    Hello,

I have tried following every step to the T and still can’t get it to work.

    1. I installed the plugin and activated it.

    2. Entered the code provided by google for the form and results.

    3. Created a new page with no title (so it doesn’t show up on homepage per your friend Zion) and named the “post slug” google-search. Entered the words into the post field and then saved it.

    4. Went to my Header page and entered the search bar in the code at the bottom so it would show up on every page as you see it on my site.

    5. Tried searching and it just keeps going back to the homepage for some reason.

I’m pulling my hair out right now trying to figure out what’s going on. Please help!

    Thanks,

    Bryan

  12. Bryan Says:

Nevermind. Figured it out. Apparently naming the page “google-search” wouldn’t work as the code generated by google wanted me to name the page “search” instead. Just noticed that as I looked through the code and made the change and viola.

  13. James Says:

Hi. Thanks for this script - I’ve got it working - but would like to add the Google Search box to the sidebar of my wordpress script(replacing the standard wordpress search) - how am I best to do that?

    James

  14. James Says:

Hi. I originally posted this message an hour ago - but it seem to disappear. I’ll try again..

Great Script - onlyproblem is that I cannot see how you implemet the Google Search/MightySearch box into the Wordpress sidebar - does anybody have any pointers on how to do this - as , and don’t seem to do anything (on the sidebar that is).

All help and pointers greatfully received!

  15. James Says:

Now the original post has re-appeared?!

    Anybody got any ideas?

  16. mightyhitter Says:

Hi James, I can write a function for that purpose, will reupload the plugin very soon.

  17. James Says:

Thanks - I look forward to the new version!

  18. mightyhitter Says:

    James, kindly download 1.1 version. In your sidebar template, insert this line;

    <?php echo_mightysearch_form(); ?>

you can change the size or color of the form at Adsense control page and get the code into MightySearch configuration page.

  19. Nhia Says:

Great plugin! I got it working with no problem, however I got a quick question. On the results page I’m getting a lot of white space at the end of a search. How can I eliminate or minimize the white space on the bottom of the search results page?

  20. mightyhitter Says:

Hi Nhia, I guess the whitespace is reserved for “sponsored links” from google, that’s why you can see sometimes the space is filled up by ads. Furthermore, we have no control on the output of the javascript by Google. The javascript is producing the white space.

  21. Andrea Says:

Thanks a lot for sharing this with us! Great job.

  22. you know who Says:

Hi, I’m interested in using your plugin, but the problem is I have regular block and link adsense ads on my sidebar, and giving a search result page while displaying a regular ads are forbidden. Do you have any suggestion for this?

  23. ProPhotographer Says:

    Simple and very effective.

    Many many thanks.

  24. Kathryn Says:

The Google Search Results page is at least 500px wide, but the default theme in wordpress is apparently narrower. Anyone have any pointers on how to change the theme so the search results look OK?

  25. WebDiggin Says:

    You know who,

Could you use a plugin like AdSense Manager to set it so that your sidebar ads only display on the homepage and posts page, but not on a “page”. (Then when the Google search page loads up, the adsense ads won’t run.)

Don’t know, but could you use php code (with a plugin to enable php in the sidebar) so that if your blog is showing the search results page, it doesn’t show the ads?

    Any luck?

(By the way, MightyHitter, love this plugin. I had managed to get the Google code into my template and it worked fine with firefox, but didn’t load correctly with internet explorer. Then we found your plugin and that was heaps easier than messing around with our template code. Thanks.)
