Google sitemap, don’t get caught cheating
->
I was too excited with Google sitemap so that I just wrote a simple script to produce the dynamic sitemap and do some .htaccess redirecting. Example;
http://myhostinglist.com/sitemap.xml
My pages were indexed few days after that and it was really cool to witness your new pages with Google SERP for some keywords. I had second or third position for some hosting keyword search result.
But, I was not aware that some URLs under the sitemap are pointing to the same content. I mean x,y or z of packages id are pointing to the same ABC hosting.com. And I think that was the reason why my pages was penalized so that no more Good SERPs for myhostinglist.com. That’s bad.
Resolution;
1. Rewrite the sitemap script.
2. Resubmit to Google sitemap.
Hopefully the bots will have some mercy on this unintentional so-called errors ![]()
